A pastor of 28 years, I've taken 8 semesters of Biblical Hebrew, and even with that amount of study its hard to keep up with vocabulary/grammar and a busy pastor's schedule. Kohlenberger's Interlinear is a good answer to this problem, allowing the pastor quicker access to the Masoretic Text and a reliable English translation. Not to be used as a "cheat sheet" or "easy way out" of serious study of Hebrew, Kohlenberger nevertheless gives the preacher insights into the text that cannot be found by study of the English translations alone.
A must for any pastor serious about biblical exegesis and study of the Hebrew Scriptures!

I own three interlinear bibles. This one is of the highest quality in type-set in both English and Hebrew. It rivals that of the JPS Tanakh (not an interliner). The NIV is not my favorite translation but this is fine. New to Hebrew my Hebrew is weak but I have grown used to reading right-to-left in Hebrew. The only thing the frustrates about this book is that the interlinear English reads left-to-right. This might be a fault in my own mind as this is considered a feature in this book's preface. All is well though. This delema reminds me to memorize meanings but I don't take this book's meaning as stone as it is this translators' of the NIV meaning I am reading in English.
It would be a big help to get a copy of the Basics of Biblical Hebrew and a copy of The Complete Word Study Dictionary Old Testament if you are going to dive in head first like I have. A copy of the Jewish Publication Society's Hebrew-English Tanakh (not interlinear) is a helpful companion as you dig through the OT scriptures. It's like a Jewish buddy by your side. Was it Elohim's Spirit or His wind that hovered over the waters? Is the word for God plural in the Tanakh as it is in this book? These were some of the first things I looked at in the books I have mentioned.
By the way, this book contains that entire old testament the Law, the History, the Poetry and the Prophecies. The book is thick (two and three quearter inches). The pages are "bible thin" and white as snow but you can see through them (I don't mind this). The type, as I mentioned, is very clear (you can see the vowels/pointing just fine).
PS:
I would have preferred NASB or HCSB but I'm still glad I bought it.

I mean if u r into getting bible translation truth and not just relying on translations made such as the NIV, King James, this is a great book. U can see that many bible today remove the true name of God (Yahweh-Jehovah) from the bibles and u can piece together sentences bases on the words available in each verse or line.....U can see some discrepencies such as Psalms 45:6, the NIV states " Your throne, O God, will last forever...." but yet in verse 7, the NIV states "....therefore God, your God, has set.....". What I notices is in verse 6 (which is line 7 in interlinear - be aware that interlinear is written from right to left) the translators put "O God" yet for verse 7 (which is line 8 in interlinear) the translators put "God" for the same characters. Why did it put an "O" in front of "God" for the same Hebrew word? Perhaps to make people identify the person being spoken to as "God"? Cause the 6 would have been read instead "Your throne, God, will last forever....." so therefore the person being spoken to isn't God but rather his throne is God or God is his throne.It's just like we would use this sentence, "the doctor, Lucy, is working on a patient". The doctor is Lucy or Lucy is the doctor so the same the throne is God or God is the throne. These are the games that translators play because they already believe in the trinity and they try to conform the bible to trinitarian standards. Rather than translate the bible as it was originally written, they add some here, take some there to make the bible fit their beliefs....By using intelinears u will see the inconsistencies within the bibles and trust me there are more verses being played with than just this one (John 1:1 for instance and many more). Please do not let bible translations fool u....I recommend the reading of "Truth in bible Translation" by David Beduhn, a great book exposing bible translations

This is an absolutely indispensable companion for the serious English-speaking Tanach student. It is better than gold dust; it will unveil the true riches of the God's Word.
