5 out of 5 stars Comprehensive   January 20, 2005

This book is very comprehensive and offers a good starting point for beginners. It is very detailed. Sometimes she digresses, but only to make a specific point. I continue to use it as a great refrence.

3 out of 5 stars not necessarily the most accurate anymore   January 7, 2005

I, like many, was blown away when I first read 'Hands of Light'. It is a very good book, even if channeling is over-emphasized (be careful just what it is you are channeling and do you really need to channel anyway...) but there are many books out there now that include things left out of 'Hands of Light'. For example, I have found that 'Energetic Anatomy' by Mark Rich (hard to find; energeticanatomy.com is the only way I found) is just as mind-blowing and has details that other books like Hands of Light leave out. So, this book is good, but it is not the be-all end-all. Multiple sources is the best way to go in this field.

5 out of 5 stars A Comprehensive Guide to Healing   December 14, 2004

This book should be read by everyone, and especially those interested in the integrative hands-on healing modality and how it can fit into the conventional world. When reading this book, those knowledgeable about these subjects will find a common thread by other authors/books and a better understanding and substantiation will result. Other authors/books for those on the spiritual healing path are:- "Power Healing" by John Wimber, " "The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide -Tapping into the Miracle" - by Tiffany Snow and "Quantum Touch" by Richard

5 out of 5 stars I Love This Book! Part of a Good Foundation   November 29, 2004

This is a book that should be on every healer's shelf. There is constantly new information on variations of this subject. I also have witnessed several times how the power of prayer and the patient's spirituality affects the body, both emotionally and physically.I do a lot of reading, and am currently very moved with a new book called The Power of Divine: A Healer's Guide and the information there, but that is to be expected as we move forward in our awareness of integrative medicine. Mankind is taking great, wonderful strides forward right now, and not a moment too soon! Read this book and start a collection that leads you to insight and wisdom. Both books also have excellent- though differing - suggestions into developing medical intuitiveness. Let's be open to as many tools as possible in this new paradigm.

5 out of 5 stars Great for healthworkers   October 12, 2004
This is a wonderful book. Barbara's work is a wonderful addition to any training in the health profession. She has devoted more than twenty years to research and exploration of the human energy field. Her education began in the solid sciences and has evolved to medical intuitive and healing science.

Hands of Light is a good primer for the side of medical science which is in some areas still ridiculed. If you are thinking of learning massage therapy or any bodywork or health modalities read this book. You may not ever want to do what is detailed inside but it is good to be aware of. We are all capable of this type of work. She makes that point repeatedly and I think it bears repeating and repeating. This has been pointed out by St. Teresa de Avila and all the other mystics. There is nothing special about it, or people who have chosen this path. It is not any more enlightened than being a bus driver. The level of personal presence might be a little different but not more special.

Barbara's second book "Light Emerging" is also wonderful and worth reading. It had much more specific information (text and diagrams) about working with specific mental and emotional states. There is also detailed information about the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. A worthwhile venture.
