4 out of 5 stars Spiritual Growth with TEN PRAYERS   February 27, 2008
7 out of 7 found this review helpful

With this catchy title, TEN PRAYERS GOD ALWAYS SAYS YES TO seemed perfect for a Sunday School class discussion. DeStefano uses interesting stories to make his points about the different prayers and backs up the prayers with solid Biblical references. His subtitles for each one made for a good handout to the class. It is a good spiritual growth book for anyone.

In my life, there is not one book that I have read from beginning to end TWICE in a row prior to reading any other book, until I read this book.

It has such an excellent way of explaining situations in life with stories and examples and more important to that, short prayers are shared that aid us in turning to Him who cares to listen, cares to help us, and cares to be with us in our walk of life on this earth.

Anthony has blest us with this book and I highly recommend reading it and living it, by praying with what you have learned from it.

The author uses great examples throughout the book. I am using it in a classroom setting. The size of our class has grown, because of the subject! My church buys the books for our class members, and the members want to buy more for thier family and friends. Great product!

5 out of 5 stars Positive book with valuable messages for anyone   October 22, 2007

"Ten Prayers God Always Says Yes To," the latest book by acclaimed author Anthony DeStefano, is an uplifting, fast read sure to improve one's day with helpful advice and a positive outlook on life's adversity. As a busy college student with everyday ups and downs, I find it necessary to have a quick way to brighten my mood and reinstate confidence in my spiritual life and in myself, and this book provides the perfect outlet for that.

The book is divided in ten chapters titled as prayers that God will never turn down. The prayers are simple requests that anyone might ask, such as "give me peace," or "bring good out of this bad situation." DeStefano says each of the prayers will be heard and answered, and backs up his assertion with scripture. In addition to letting people know that God is always listening and willing to help those who ask, the book also offers a substantial amount of advice on self-improvement without God's help. The book tells people how they can improve their lives, feel better about themselves, and make the best of any situation. It also reminds people that many others are going through similar struggles, and much worse, to help readers feel less alone in their varying personal trials.

DeStefano's latest book is formidable in comparison to his previous novel, "A Travel Guide to Heaven" because it is not preachy and offers practical advice anyone can utilize. However, "Ten Prayers God Always Says Yes To" makes the reprehensible mistake of briefly ineptly dabbling in philosophy and relying on logical fallacies to prove God's existence. The book's introduction includes a couple of pages that fly by a few famous philosophers' arguments in attempting to prove God is real. The problem is that the book begs the question by presuming God's existence in trying to prove it. The fallacy greatly reduces the credibility of the book, but fortunately numerous positive aspects outweigh the one serious downside.

I would recommend this book to anyone. The reading is not dense by any measure, and contains useful messages for any human. In the past, I have caught myself asking numerous questions about prayer which are answered by DeStefano within a few minutes of picking up the book. Non-Christians might be hesitant to purchase the book, but rest assured it does not preach or lean towards a particular denomination, and even has an entire chapter aimed at people divided on the topic of God's existence. I have found the book to be enlightening, comforting, and useful, and few books can contain more benefits in only 182 pages. The book offers the best of self-help and spiritual texts in its extension of hope, reminder of God's unconditional love, and wisdom on the power within us all to help ourselves.
