If you want to grow in knowing God, seeking a personal relationship with Christ, this is the book for you. Many people seek other faiths, other than the Christian faith, because we lack is teaching in detail how to have this wonderful experience. Richard Foster makes it real; giving you steps and explains each step so there is no doubt. I highly recommend this book. God bless you on your journey.
Want a balanced spiritual life? February 8, 2008 Richard Foster invites you into meditation, prayer, fasting and study as basic disciplines in Christian growth. Written so simply and precise you will want to embrace these disciplines to draw closer to God and be at peace with yourself and others.
Spiritually sound with "silence" January 26, 2008 A wonderful resource for the person seeking a closer walk with the Lord through spiritual disciplines! Don Elijah Eckhart
A Contemporary Classic January 24, 2008 Richard Foster draws from the deep wells of Scripture and the devotional classics and gives us a contemporary classic that compels us to move beyond superficial faith to sincere faith, and out of cheap grace into costly grace.
Celebration of Discipline is essential reading for the person who wants to grow and mature as a follower of Christ. Foster doesn't make the disciplines an end in themselves, but a means of growing in the grace and truth of Jesus Christ. He also helps us to see that the disciplines are not just for a select few who are extraordinarily gifted, but they are within the reach of ordinary people and I find that particularly encouraging.
This is a great book and worthy of a careful reading and re-reading.
