A Great Work June 3, 2007 Magic Tree House #35: Night of the New Magicians, is another wonderful installment in Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House series. In this book, Jack and Annie go to Paris, France for the World's Fair of 1889. There they have to find "four new magicians" and warn them about an evil sorcerer who is planning to steal the secrets of their magic.
I am just a kid, but i highly suggest that any fans of Mary Pope Osborne should read this book AND the entire Magic Tree House series.
A belle epoque perspective on the magic of science May 18, 2007 One of the best Magic Tree House books I've read with the kids. As usual, Osborne brings history to life. In this case, she turns science and technology into mystery and suspense, with the Eiffel Tower as a beautiful gathering place for brilliant minds and tales of inspiration. The World Fair attendees are awed by inventions that seem commonplace and even old-fashioned to us. This book taught my kids to take nothing for granted... and it gave them the desire to climb the Eiffel Tower - a pretty nice ambition for land-locked Mid-westerners!
Another great one from M. Pope Osborne May 14, 2007 I purchased this book for my son as an Easter present. He read the whole thing that day and said it was just as good as the rest of the series. We struggled with him to try and spark an interest in reading, and these books were the only thing that worked. Even now, when he reads much more advanced books, he still comes back to these adventures.
Fantastic Mission to 1889 World's Fair in Paris. My kids love this book January 22, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Night of the New Magicians is Magic Tree House Book #35. The two main characters are a brother (Jack) and sister (Annie). In each magic tree house book Jack and Annie travel via magic tree house to a faraway place and time to perform a mission. Every book in this series is a galloping adventure with a few facts thrown in.
In #35 they travel to Paris, France, for the 1889 World's Fair. Their mission is to find four "new magicians" and protect them from an evil sorcerer who plans to kidnap them. Along the way Jack and Anne see the Eiffel Tower, meet Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Louis Pasteur, and Gustave Eiffel.
This is one of the best Magic Tree House Books to date. After reading this book my 6 year old wants to go see Paris. I gave him an eyewitness guidebook about Paris; you know the guidebooks with all the pictures. He enjoys looking through it.
My 6 year old loves Magic Tree House books. In Kindergarten he made us read these books to him ever night. Now in Grade 1, he reads them to himself!! You know a 6 year old loves a book if he reads it to himself!
One last thing, the books appear to stand up somewhat to the test of time, as the 10 year old across the street still likes them. I find this important as most things you buy for kids expire very rapidly. This book has a shelf life of at least 5 years, which is totally awesome.
I like inventions a lot. June 7, 2006 I am 7 years old.I wasn't very interested about the men in the book. But I was very interested about the inventions and the flying bicycle. And I hope 4 stars is good for me and you.
