5 out of 5 stars Definately one for your shelf...   February 2, 2004

As soon as I finished this book, I made it a personal mission to get it into the hands of as many people as I could. It is a book that I would hand to anyone in a heartbeat, wherever they may be in their faith journey. It's real, it's honest, it's insightful, it's hilarious. Miller has written a book that has deeply touched my heart and the hearts of many who I know have read it. Grab a copy right away...grab two copies and get a friend to read it alongside of you...and talk about what it stirs up within you. I'm excited for anyone who gives this book a chance!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing simplicity   January 14, 2004
What a beautiful book! Don Miller's story of faith flows from page to page with beauty and grace, sharing with us his struggle to be faithful to God's call despite himself. Miller's prose is honest, frank, funny, and poetic, drumming out the rhythm of faith played out in a "postmodern" world.

I found Blue Like Jazz in a used book store (sorry, Don I promise to buy at least 2 copies at the real store) and have come to believe that it was a divine appointment. At times, it seems that the author has crawled into my head and is writing my story. Most times, however, he delivers truth and beauty (without shying away from the hard questions) shrouded in humor and great writing. I plan to wear this copy out.

And by the way, Mr. Miller - you do matter today.

5 out of 5 stars Buy several copies of "Blue Like Jazz"   December 8, 2003

My wife bought this book for me. I read it in a day and a half. Read it again. Read long portions to her. Emailed chapters to my best friends. Told everyone who would stand still long enough about this book. Bought five copies for Christmas gifts. And wrote a review on Amazon.com.

I LOVE this book. Buy it! In fact, buy a couple . . . you'll want to give them away.

5 out of 5 stars Powerful ideas enclosed in great writing   December 8, 2003

Don's book really draws the distinction between religion and spirituality. He tells how he lost his religion, but found his spirituality, and how the second is so much more of God than the first. His book is funny but speaks to you in such a real way. He has a lot of interesting ideas that feel really true to me about how Jesus really wants the world to be. It's one of those books you don't want to put down and find yourself laughing out loud or nodding your head as you read.
