5 out of 5 stars Great summary of the Catholic Mass   January 10, 2007

Brilliantly detailed book based on scripture. It helped give me a new insight into Jesus.

This book will change your whole experience of the Mass. You will almost be able to hear the angels singing and see the bright light from Heaven shining over the altar during the Consecration of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Dr. Hahn has a wonderful sense of humor in his writing, which helps prevent feeling overwhelmed by the magnitude of what he is saying.

Before reading "The Lamb's Supper," I had not been a Scott Hahn fan. However, Dr. Hahn's book provides an incredible key to a deeper appreciation of the Mass and the Book of Revelation:
*"Of all things Catholic, there is nothing so familiar as the Mass....Yet most Catholics will go a lifetime without seeing beyond the surface of memorized prayers. Few will glimpse the powerful supernatural drama they enter into every Sunday. Pope John Paul II has called the Mass `heaven on earth,' explaining that `the liturgy we celebrate on earth is a mysterious participation in the heavenly liturgy'" (p. 3).
*"For most of the early Christians it was a given: the Book of Revelation was incomprehensible apart from the liturgy....As Jewish Christians, we would immediately recognize the Temple in Revelation's description of heaven....Revelation revealed the Temple - but to devout Jews and jewish converts to Christianity, it also revealed much more. For the temple and its trappings pointed to higher realities" (pp. 66 - 69).

This is a fabulous, little book!

4 out of 5 stars A Great Book for Advanced Level   November 10, 2006

I really loved this book, and have read it a couple of times over the last couple of years; I gain more insight each time. However, a couple of points before you buy this book:
1. If you're a new Catholic or not familiar with the Mass and the prayers of the Mass, then I think you'd struggle through this book trying to make the connections to which Mr. Hahn refers.
2. This is Master's/PhD level stuff...it's presented in a simple, straightforward manner, but I think it's best suited for those familiar with the Mass and Scripture--more accurately Revelation.
That said, Mr. Hahn has done another superb job and I highly recommend this book for post-RCIA faith based persons who are trying to take their understanding of the Mass to the next level. Superb, but not for beginners.

5 out of 5 stars Review on The Lamb's Supper by Scott Hahn   November 10, 2006

This is a great great book I highly recommend to any Catholic or even any non-Catholic interested in Catholicism.
It digs into things about the Mass that you never even THOUGHT of... it gives such a different perspective of every part of the Mass, even the little things that we take for granted and do/say as more of a routine every week than the sacred thing that it is.
Every time I go to Mass now, different things that take place make me think about different things Scott has wrote about in this book. I'm going to have to pick up copies of some of his other books too, such as Rome Sweet Home, and Hail Holy Queen...
I decided to pick up a copy before I went to see Fr. Corapi and Scott Hahn at a conference in person, and didn't get a chance to read the book before going to see him, but it made the book so much more interesting to read after having heard him speak in real life. He's a fantastic speaker.
Again, I highly recommend this book. :)
