 Pretty good all around November 11, 2008
This is very handy for travel, but for study the type is a little small, although the Hebrew script clear for its size. In comparison to the Artsroll: Artscroll is a more accurate translation and is better for the English/Hebrew corresponding line-for-line. I would like to get the small Sephardic chumash/tanakh but nothing available at the moment. Other than that, this is a great quality product.
A Good Buy! November 4, 2008
This Tanakh sells for $45 at Boarders and I got it used for $23 out the door on Amazon! It was listed at used and in good condition and I am very happy with it. I bought this for my personal (spiritual) use as well as an aide in learning Hebrew. I love it on both counts.
The translation is good and I love having the Hebrew to see the deeper meaning. On each page there are two columns and the English is on the left and the Hebrew is on the right. (I have since seen the interlinear Bibles with English and Hebrew, one on top of the other and those are more word for word. But I like mine because I REALLY have to know the language.) It does roughly follow line by line but is is not exact...so don't count on just looking opposite on the page for the exact translation.
This has all the vowel markings and cantilation marks as well. It can feel a bit small at times. If you have trouble reading small print I'd say to look at some other options or get a good magnifying glass. The names of the books do not have vowel pointing though!
One thing I was excited to see what that the Song of Moses in Exodus has been rendered in the 'brick wall' (or what ever you call it?) pattern of the scrolls and not in the columns that the rest of the book is formatted in. There is also another passage that reads like that that I saw as I was flipping though.
This is a bit of a bigger book because it has so much in it, but it is not too heavy. I did get a stiff Bible-cover for it to help it not be so floppy (I have a soft cover).
This also has the parsha sections listed and other common readings that follow the Jewish calendar. There are no maps.
This is very basic, no goble-dee-goop, and I really like it. I have really enjoyed it and recommend it.
Beautiful book for any Christian seeking the truth of our Lord October 31, 2008
This book is a must have for anyone seeking Yeshua. I'm not a scholar by any means. I'm just a new babe in Christ looking for true scripture from the Jewish Bible. This Bible has been with me for every Bible Study I have done since I bought it, and I wouldn't give it up for anything. It's a wonderful addition to my other Bible. Make this purchase! You will never regret it!

I'm learning hebrew and the roots of judaism. This Tanakh is superb for that objective.

As a rare user of Amazon I have been hesitant to order items since I cannot SEE or FEEL the product. However, I took a(nother) chance and was very pleased with the speed of delivery and the quality of the book. I now am a proud owner-finally- of an English0 Hebrew tanakh/Hebrew Bible! This experience will encourage to puchase more items from Amazon.com.
