5 out of 5 stars EVERY Professional Needs to Read This   October 29, 2008
Being a 'professional' myself, I was intrigued when I learned of this book. :-)

As a brief introduction, my background is that of a Financial Advisor and Business Consultant to Health Professionals (physicians, dentists, surgeons, chiropractors, osteopaths, veterinarians, naturopaths, etc).

I've also owned a number of Internet businesses and been involved in the Home Business industry over the past 20 years, as a student, entrepreneur and coach.

Primarily, I have used the Network Marketing business model (which I greatly respect) - and latterly - Inter-Network Marketing (ONline Network Marketing).

So, when this book - "THE NEW PROFESSIONALS: The Rise Of Network Marketing As The Next Major Profession" was published, I was delighted.

It's written by Dr. Charles King (professor of Marketing at the University of Illinois at Chicago) and James Robinson (senior advisor, US Chamber of Commerce) - I've read it many times, and I recommended it to all of my clients and business associates.

I believe that every professional Network Marketer should have a copy of this outstanding book in her/his library.
A PROFESSION - In particular, what I like about this book is that it helps to "lift the old stigma" that used to be attached to Network Marketing.

Some of the special highlights that resonate with many professionals...

OPPORTUNITY - Today (especially with the current "global economic crisis") - the Network Marketing industry is attracting more and more "professionals" - lawyers - architects - dentists - engineers - executives - stock brokers - bankers - pilots - nurses - athletes - teachers - small business owners - doctors - retirees -- the list is endless. Many of these professionals already poured years of study and hard work into preparing for, and building, satisfying and lucrative careers - yet they're walking away from that success and achievement.

WHY? - Because of the 'pressures' of the rat-race -- the uncertainties of their careers -- government red tape, control and underfunding -- the cost of malptactice insurance -- the wear and tear on their health, families, marriages.

LIFESTYLE - They're seeing the kind of "lifestyle" that's possible with a successful Network Marketing business - where on-going "residual" income is possible -vs- "linear" income (trading hours for dollars - time for money) - where there's "no ceiling" to earnings - where there are large "tax breaks" available - where there's an opportunity to truly "leverage" their time, talent and money. They're seeing the real potential of being able to create an "income-producing ASSET" - one that can be willed to their children and their grandchildren.

WORK AT HOME - Many are seduced by the idea of a 20-step 'commute' to their Home Office each day - where they can avoid "highway traffic snarls" every day - where they can be their "own boss" (call their own shots) - where they can use the power and efficiency of the "Internet" to build wealth from home (InterNetwork Marketing).

A NATURAL FIT - Network Marketing is a "natural fit" for most professionals because first, they tend to be "caring" individuals -- second, they are well respected, and have a high "credibility" level -- and third, because they usually have a wide "center of influence" -- all of which combine to give them an enormous advantage in "attracting others" (customers / clients / associates) to themselves.

OLD -vs- NEW - The "old" ways of building a Network Marketing business, by "chasing after" prospects, are fast disappearing. Instead, with the right education and marketing skills, today's professionals can become true "solutions providers" to those seeking answers to their problems. It's a more comfortable, more 'professional', and far more profitable way to build a business. In essence, today's professional Network Marketers become consultants - "teachers" - who offer to help, coach and support those who seek them out.

The book talks about professionals in Network Marketing today being able to build successful businesses to where they can enjoy the 'best' in personal growth, leadership development and financial independence.

Investment guru and best-selling author, Robert Kiyosaki ("Rich Dad - Poor Dad"), says that Network Marketing is the perfect "B" Quadrant in his "Cash Flow Quadrant" book.

Even billionaire, Warren Buffet, now owns a Network Marketing company.

"The New Professionals..." - an excellent book - a compelling study - I give this 338-page book a full 5-STAR Rating.

Sincerely,

Peter Arnold, CLU, CFC / Founder
Business Achievers Academy / Canada

2 out of 5 stars would not recommend   May 18, 2008

I feel that the book was ill researched. Quite a few of the companies edified in the book are now shut down, out of business and some of the company founders are now in jail. also,on page 78 it says that Nutrilite was founded by Wm. Castleberry and Lee Mytinger and on page 182 it says Nutrilite was founded by Carl Rehnborg. The book was copyrighted in 2000 and many of the figures are outdated in 2008.

5 out of 5 stars The New Professionals   March 7, 2008
This book should be read by all professionals who are tired of the corporate downsizing and who want a balanced family life. This book is on target about what is happening today in the United States as we begin to move into a different business trend that will grow more and more in the coming years. This book encourages entrepreneurship.

5 out of 5 stars Hands down best factual network marketing book   March 6, 2008
This book is an absolutely comprehensive factual guide to MLM industry.

I am a former marketing lecturer from Europe and have done extensive research on the MLM business model in the European market. I moved to the States a few years ago and continuing my research I think I must have read ever book on this subject.

Dr. King & Mr. Robinson book is the best and the most factual book on this subject that I have ever read. I would highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Great support for new marketers   March 1, 2008
Of all the network marketing books I've read, this has by far been the most helpful. Why? Because it deals with the real issues that cause difficulties for new marketers, the bad press, the non supportive comments from family and friends, the inevitable periods of depression that come when one is in a self-motivating business, and above all, the necessity of a good team. It IS important to keep one's attitude positive and this book will help you do that, by helping you look the negativity of others and on occasion yourself, straight in the eye. I give it to all of my new downline!
