 Changed my prayer life August 27, 2008

When I began to pray the LOH (morning & evening prayer) I began to realized what prayer was intended to be - Praise and Worship. The exposure to the Psalms, Canticles and scripture readings have helped make made God present in my life. Even when I pray alone there is comfort knowing that the rest of the church is also praying the same prayers. The LOH also helped me to experience church in a broader sense - (brothers and sisters in Christ). It has transormed my prayer life. I went from a laundry list of wants (me) and now focus on Him and my brothers and sisters. It takes a few times to get the format down, however it is well worth the effort. I HIGHLY recommend praying the LOH if you are searching for deeper waters.

I had been looking for a way to add to my prayer collection and this is a wonderful way to do it. It is a little confusing at first but with the help of the INCLUDED St. Joseph's guide I'm finding my way around this lovely book. Do not bother buying a separate St. Joseph's guide because one is included in the box. Don't be discouraged by the confusing layout at first. It will make sense very soon whether you teach yourself or have someone teach you.

This is the most popular standard one-volume psalter for the English-speaking Catholic churches/communities. There are other psalters that are gender-sensitive in language, or more poetic in style or rendered in more contemporary paraphrase. It includes songs for liturgy and worship, and a section for Christian poetry and readings from the writings of ancient and contemporary authors, salutary aids for meditation and prayer.
Its price at Amazon is unbeatable- compared to other stores!

This version of the Liturgy of the Hours is far better than the shorter version. It contains all the feast day readings and a selection of regular readings. If you want to go deeper into the Office of Readings you would do better with the complete four volumes of the Liturgy of the Hours.

I'm very glad to have purchased the liturgy of the hours, The Christian Prayer Book, it is easy to use, it was delivered before time and it helps me a lot with my mayor commitment to my catholic faith.
